  • This nicely protected anchorage has patchy coral sand bottom. The town is French speaking predominately. There is a small shop and we were able to walk around the town and find fresh pineapple and homemade bread for sale also.

The anchorage boasts the largest sandy beach in Vanuatu. The beach in front of Port Olry is super soft, white sand. The coral snorkeling is OK, but then between Dolphin island and Port Orly, we found a shipwreck in the shallows. It’s an old steam engine metal boat. This was not reported in the guides and we have no history on it. During low tide, it peaks up out of the water.

You can take your dinghy up the river to explore and you’ll find some villages at the end.

There is a cell tower in town. Digicel only had occasional service and TVL did not have service.

The only ATM on the island is in Luganville.
